Protect your investment with VoIP Supply
The only question we ask is where to send the replacement.
Let’s face it, products break. More often than not, they break when you least expect them to and after the manufacturer's warranty expires. For most businesses, VoIP hardware represents a major infrastructure expense.
The VoIP Supply go3 warranty program was designed to offer complete protection of this investment. If your equipment fails, malfunctions, or ceases to operate properly for any reason… as a result of manufacturer defect, component failure or user negligence, we’ll provide an expedited replacement.
With go3, your hardware purchase is completely covered for a full 3 years from the date of purchase.
Basic Conditions (No Fine Print)
The equipment must have been purchased from us and must be returned within the go3 warranty period. go3 coverage must be purchased at the point of sale, and is not refundable.
VoIP for Beginners
We were all new to VoIP at one point
There is nothing wrong with being new to VoIP. All of us at VoIP Supply were at some point. We realize that as VoIP technology has grown in popularity, the amount information (and misinformation) about the technology has also grown. This had lead to a lot of confusion, so we have prepared this brief VoIP primer to help you gain a better basic understanding of the technology and how it can be used in your home and business.
What is VoIP?
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, and describes the method of taking analog audio signals (what you hear when you talk on the phone) and converting them to digital data (packets), that can be transmitted over the public internet, or over a private network managed by a VoIP service provider. Contrary to popular belief, VoIP is not really a new technology. VoIP has been around for more than 10 years, but has only recently made its way into the public consciousness.
The majority of those currently using VoIP are familiar with it from using it in a residential setting. Using managed services provided by companies such as Vonage, iConnectHere and Packet8, residential VoIP users leverage a hardware device called an ATA to connect a standard analog phone to the Internet in order to send and receive calls using VoIP. The ATA converts the analog signal to digital data so it can be transported over the internet.
What does this mean to a business owner?
Since VoIP uses a standard Internet connection (Cable, DSL, T1, etc) to place inexpensive, sometimes free phone calls businesses can leverage VoIP just like a residential user, but on a much greater scale. Because VoIP calls are sent via the Internet, they bypass the traditional phone company, and thereby, the fees associated with transporting calls over their switched network. This legacy network, which includes the poles and wires which run along the side of most streets and highways, is known as the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). The result of using the Internet for calling, rather than the PSTN is a decrease in costs, increases in operational efficiencies, worker productivity and the ability to voice enable many business processes.
Most VoIP users in a business setting use specialized IP Phones and an IP enabled PBX (Public Branch Exchange) system. IP Phones have an Ethernet (RJ45) connection onboard, and are connected to the business LAN (Local Area Network). The IP PBX is a digital phone system, which is also connected to the LAN, as well as to the Internet so that calls may be routed over the Internet.
What is next for VoIP?
Over the next few years, more and more of the traditional, legacy circuit-switched telephone network will be replaced by packet switched infrastructure. More and more businesses are installing VoIP systems, and VoIP technology will continue to grow as it slowly replaces circuit-switched calling altogether.
Still confused about VoIP technology? It’s okay! We are here to help. Give one of our VoIP experts a call at 1-800-398-8647 today and they will help sort it all out.
